Transfer Galaxy is a Swedish money transfer service you can use to send money to a number of African countries. You recipient will receive the money via mobile money or cash. Countries you can send money to include South Africa, Rwanda, Senegal, Malawi, Kenya and Cape Verde.

Pros and Cons of Using Transfer Galaxy Money Transfer

Some of the benefits of using Transfer Galaxy services are the ability to send money to 19 African countries from 24 European countries and your recipient can receive money in cash or mobile wallets, which have become very popular in Africa especially for the unbanked. However, you cannot send money from the US, which is the largest source of international money transfers. Moreover, it is not possible to send money to a bank account if your recipient prefers that option.

How to Register for Transfer Galaxy Money Transfer

Registration for Transfer Galaxy services is free. You can do it on the website or Transfer Galaxy app for Android or iOS.

What you need to complete your registration is ID. For Swedish customers, they can use eID (Mobile BankID) and do not need to share a photo copy of a valid ID document. After following the registration steps by providing your details, you will be able to go ahead and make a transfer. To send money, you need to indicate who you are sending the money to, how you want the money to be delivered, how much you intend to send. After reviewing to make sure all the details are correct, you can pay and send. You will be able to track your transfer in your account.

How to Pay for Transfer Galaxy Money Transfer

You can pay for your transfer using a bank account, credit/debit card (Visa, Maestro and MasterCard), Trustly, and Giropay in Germany. Transfer Galaxy does not accept cash.

How to Receive Transfer Galaxy Money Transfer

Depending on the country of your recipient, receiving options are mobile wallet and cash pickup. For example, in Somalia you can send money to mobile money wallets operated by Sopay, Hormud EVS plus and Golis Sahal and cash pick up is available via Juba Express.

If you send money to a loved one who does not have a SoPay account, they will receive a link via SMS where they can create a SoPay account. After they have created an account, the money you transferred to them will be put into their account. They can access their money at any of the SoPay agents

What is the Maximum Amout Can I Send With Transfer Galaxy?

The maximum amount depends on where the money is sent from and to where it is going. Once you enter how much you would like to send into the “Send To” calculator, it will tell you if you exceed the maximum amount.

An extra limit is a temporary increased limit offered to customers who need to make a more substantial transfer above the monthly limit, and for a specific purpose. The extra limit is currently open to Swedish customers only. To apply for the extra limit, you need to provide additional information and fill out this form to apply.

How Much Does Transfer Galaxy Charge for Money Transfers?

Like many other money transfer services, Transfer Galaxy fees vary based on the amount, country of destination, receiving and payment methods, etc. For instance, if you send 500 GBP to Somaliland for cash pick up, your fee will be 2.50 GBP. If you pay for your transfer with a credit card, you may be charged a cash advance fee by your credit card provider.

Generally speaking, mobile wallet and cash pickup transfers are instant unless there are issues with your provider such as network interruption.
