Small World and Ecobank have entered into a partnership to provide fast, convenient and affordable remittance services to Africans in the diaspora.
Small World is a global money transfer service that allows Africans in the diaspora to make fast and low-cost transfers to individuals and businesses in over 40 African countries from Europe, Brazil and the United States. Ecobank is a pan-African bank operating in 33 African countries.
The partnership will expand Small World customer base and pick-up locations as well as expand Ecobank remittance range. Through this partnership, Small World customers can use Ecobank network for payout in three options: bank transfer, mobile money wallet, and cash.
From now onward, Ecobank will be able to create a mobile-based bank account for recipients of transfers from Small World regardless of whether they do have a bank account with Ecobank or not. Therefore, Small World recipients in the the 33 countries where Ecobank operates do not have to be Ecobank existing customers.
Ecobank has presence in the following African countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cape Verde, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo-Brazzaville, Democratic Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Ghana, The Gambia, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Mali, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sao Tome & Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, South Sudan, Tanzania, Gambia, Togo, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Apart from this partnership, Ecobank has its own money transfer service, Rapidtransfer, available in countries where it has banking services.
Ecobank launched a new money transfer service recently allowing people to send money to their loved ones in Nigeria using WhatsApp, email, and SMS.
